Moving to the next level
Things have progressed – I’ve created a skeleton forum for us to start posting on.  I’ll be filling it up as time goes by, but in the meantime it gives us a way to continue game even when you can’t make it to the seems-like-only-once-a-month-these-days sessions. Don’t worry about how great it is – there’s no charge for awesome.

Here’s a link to the game itself – http://www.myth-weavers.com/games.php?gameid=2648

You also have to register on the site and make a character sheet with at least the character name on it.  I have excel sheets for pretty much all the characters, so don’t worry about all the details.

Once you’ve done that, go to the above link and choose ‘join game.’  Then you can post on the forums – HERE, which is where the actual gameplay will happen.  If you have some spare time, look through the ‘help’ section – it will tell you about dice rolls, private posts and so on.

Here’s where we ended last time:

Another update on the campaign’s progress.

Firstly there were a few technical difficulties at the start, including people not being online.  We didn’t get quite as far as perhaps we could have because of that, but nonetheless we had a good run.

Mump, like most hobgoblins, was not a man of ambition.  The close-to-fresh meat, vulgar company and especially the free wine that they had come accross made him a very satisfied hobgoblin.  They even got to raid a town every-so-often, but that was generally cut short.  For a creature with no real dreams, Mump had achieved all of them.

All that changed, however, when the rudest Eladrin Mump had ever come accross pushed open the door to their little party.  Luckily a hobgoblin is never without his weapons, so dispite the atmosphere of frivolity, everybody was ready for a fight, much like when a well known nut-kick strolls into a bar.

Needless to say Mump and his friends took offense to this intrusion, and tried as best they could, to reason  with the intruders.  The reason in this case being Flails, Longswords and arrows.  The eladrin and his friends piled into the room and rudely started to attack everybody.

Mump fought like a zombie in a field of geniuses.  Even so, his friends fell one after another.  All succumbing to the painful combination of wine and fighting. Like crabs fighting to death on BBQ, their options were limited and painful.  Mump cursed at this disaster.  He had never asked for much.  The Eladrin stabbed at him ineffectually.  He had been so happy with what he had, especially his almost clean-ish shield.

The Eladrin pierced his shield.  Twice.  Mump’s eyes turn red.  The rogue attacked him in a flurry of racial hate.  Mump’s clothes were soaked in his own blood.  He was determined though, to kill the Eladrin who had offended him so much.

But it was all for naught.  Mump fought bitterly, remembering his great uncle Pimble Footbreath, Hobgoblin hero of the battle against the sleeping buffalo herd.  What good was it, if he was just going to die like this?  There was nothing he could do.  It was over.  The world grew dim around him.  Mump closed his eyes with the sight of a fancy-dress Eladrin staring disapprovingly at him.

If only he’d stayed around a little more – he would have seen that same Eladrin fall to the might warcaster.  If he had died at exactly that point, before the warcaster himself was shredded like cheese destined to top a lasagna of dead hobgoblin, Mump might have died happy.

From the Journal of Isley the literate.

One the players just sent me in a note from his character’s journal.  I thought I’d post it up here for everybody to enjoy.  I’d certainly like to encourage anybody, even if you write a couple of scribbles during a boring lecture, to send them in to share.
If you don’t want to know Isley’s view of the latest adventure without asking ingame, just skip the next bit!

The sad, sad history of Isley the impenetrable.

Here’s what I’ve learnt so far about the history of Isley the Improportionate. To quote the book of Origins:

I was thinking he may see all lands that was once eldarin as being rightfully belonging to the eldarin, and the current occupiers as uspurpers, and the eldarin leaders as weak and not taking what should be theres…

This description was supplied by the local Tavern owner, Hesiod the Uncooth, talking about Isley, then known as Isley the Local.   Needless to say this barely covers the strange, heroic past of Isley.

Isley himself is only 25.  Although he has already reached manhood by human standards, and is physically mature, by Eladrin standards he has a lot ahead of him.  As a child Isley took a great interest in the stories of the Eladrins past and origins.  He would spend time pestering elders or perusing books under the disapproving eye of his Father.  What fascinated him the most was the War of the Dragonborn, almost 1000 years ago.

He developed a great pride for Eladrin kind, and was especially proud of their victory in that monumentous war.  Unfortunately Isley couldn’t help but notice the disparity between the Eladrin’s status in the world now, and their previous glory.  Why hadn’t they faught as valiantly against the encrouching Imperium as they had against the draconic forces?  Why didn’t they even seem bothered by their place in the world now?

A fire burned deep within him and he decided that one day he would emulate those great heroes he had read about so often.  When the orks took the coast of Rhudgecloth he chose to stay and fight rather than retreat with the rest of the Eladrin defenders.  He has decided now to find glory for the Eladrin race, although at the same time, he’s unsure about his place in his Hometown after that battle.

One more note.  He’s still rather young by Eladrin standards, and when he first met Deadweight he gave his name as Isley of the Apricots (rather than revealing his actual home), but changed that frequently afterwards.  Deadweight siezed this slip and ruthlessly applies suffixes to Isley as they come to mind.

Update on next week’s schedule

Dungeons and Dragons.  Considering the name, there are an aweful lot of dungeons without dragons these days.

The consensus seems to be Friday or Saturday Sunday night.  That means starting at 9pm QLD time for a 3 hour run.  If you have a particular preference for either night let me know.

I can’t expect everybody to know all the rules by then either, but what would really help is if you could be familiar with your own character’s powers.  The rest of the stuff I’ll try to explain as we go along.

Oh and on Monday we’ll be looking into the history of Isley, one of the new members of our band of adventurers.

Which one is he?  I’ll give you a hint… you can see his chest!

We meet on orange days, in the furble.

The next installment in our litte adventure is ready to go.  I put in the final touches, i.e. treasure, this morning.  There should be something in there to appeal to most characters, I think.  Anyway, this raises the question of when shall we meet again?

Various things have happened over this week that have left me without a reasonable time to play this weekend, but I’m ready to go next weekend.  My available times are:

Friday night – 9pm onwards

Saturday – 4:30pm onwards

Sunday – All friggin’ day!

Let me know when you’re free and we’ll see if we can’t organize the best time.

During the week I’ll be posting the backstories I’ve got for various characters already (vague-ish one for Geovanna, Isley of the Apricot’s one etc), and hopefully a couple on notes about the campaign world to help you succeed.

I’ve mentioned before that I have this campaign planned so far up to about level 15, and it will most likely go beyond that.  Time is going to be important in this campaign aswell, so keep that in mind whenever you pass a horse merchant.

Apart from that, I look forward to killing you playing with you soon!

EDIT:  Regarding Isley the unadaptable.  I know that specific alternating weekends are good for you, and that next weekend is not one of those.  With just a little luck we will be able to play next weekend AND the weekend after.  From then we can settle into a fortnightly system that you should be able to attend.  Either that or Tim and Pace will take turns controlling your character in a new role called ‘chief danger tester,’ testing situations for how dangerous they are.

I sincerely hope you can attend.
