So I managed to put together Rob’s character sheet (basically a warlock with extra emphasis on the ‘war’). I’m also going to do basic character sheets for:
- Fighter: demon hunter
- Wizard: Old Gods Priestess
- Rogue: Mistress of the Falls
I can do more if needed, but if any of those are of interest let me know :) They’ll basically be modified templates, but the skills will mostly be the same as what they already are. Otherwise, if someone has a different class they want to play or an interesting concept, let me know. If you want to look at those pregen sheets, leave a comment telling me which one.

That being said, we should be ready to start weekend after next.

Peace.

Out of interest, have you had a look at any of the asian campaign material available for 3.5? That might give you some ideas about weapon properties, armour values and so on.

Oh and email me up the character sheet! I’d be happy to have a look. If you do, I promise I’ll tell you how I found the secret tabs in the excel file!

Comment by townleystreet

Ooooohhh will do. Thanks Mr Rob.

Ok, editing the data sets in that file is all about unhiding the hidden tabs. I’m not sure how to do that in open-office (are you using MS Office or Open office?). In excell you have to unprotect the file then go to the tab down the bottom and right click on it. Somewhere in there are the details. I’ll try to make a more clear description when I get home.

I’ll send you though the excel file when I get home tonight. If we can get it going, I’ll let you know the modifications I was thinking of. I had a look at some of the asian campaign stuff, some of it is useful but most of it is more from the view of the ‘gaijin standing outside and looking in’ =( I think we’re probably better doing our own, although I plan on keeping as simple as possible.
Potentially the characters may be more powerful than they are in 4e, (for example, a warlock that can fight with dual battleaxes and wear medium armour), though it should be easy enough to balance out with the mobs. Did some work on the campaign itself and came up with some maps and concept work, when we can get some more people on board its on. The rest of the character sheets should be pretty simple now that I’ve done that first one.
So if anyone else is interested, i.e. Pacey, Dennis, Doug Smith, Chris (can you ask him Rob?) then all you have to do is let me know what class you’re interested in.

I have a few suggestions about the gunpriest class – mostly just balance changes etc. I might upload it to google docs and I’ll highlight what I think the important parts are.
All in all I think you’ve captured the spirit pretty well. Chris was impressed that I can carry two axes the size of Japanese women!

arg i’d be leaning towards either the gun preist or maybe some kinda polearm weilding warrior/ronin

We could do a warrior styled polearm-toting bastard. Rob’s character is essentially a loc, so I guess its dps/debuff based. So maybe a fighter based tank?
I was thinking of drafting a dex based swordsman ‘demon-hunter’, maybe either rogue or melee ranger based, but that might be too similar to Wang, so maybe we can do a polearm wielding mountain monk instead.
At any rate I want to do a draft rogue and wizard based characters for balance. So maybe the monk will be more like a cleric?
Ok thats it:
- Turabu Gun Priest (Warlock MC’d fighter): Rob
- Mountain Monk (Fighter MC’d cleric): Yhetti Formerly belonging to an austere mountain monastery near the old former capital, he was kicked out for drunkenness and for stealing the temple bell of a rival temple on a dare. He briefly set up his own temple (consisting of one adept: himself) before deciding to travel the isles, driven by his own purpose.
And to create some sample characters for others (D and Chris?):
- Priestess of the Old Gods (Wizard): After the decline of the Old Gods, the priestess took up the way of the itinerant performer, traveling the Isles, following the mysterious path her gods have plotted for her.
- Demon Hunter(rogue/melee ranger): A former member of the Great River Clan, this clan renowned for its swordsmen sided with the losing side in the Imperial Rebellion. Turning his back on his clan, he now travels the Isles as a masterless fighter, seeking employ as a demon-slayer where work arises.
Those are just my ideas though, let me know what you think guys. Basically I’m trying to create some sample characters that create a balanced party and an interesting cross-section of this ‘world’. But you are the guys playing them, so the most important thing is that your characters are fun for you to play. *bows humbly*
SO you know, I am creating some story-arcs. There will be one for the overall objectives of the party, as well as one for each of you. You’ll get rewarded for experience for fulfilling either objectives, but they will all be connected with each other (mwahahaha!) to create some sort of synergy. For your individual character arcs, thats something we’ll put together individually, its up to you whether you reveal them to others yet or not.

I’m looking forward to this. It is really fun to DM, but it’s fun to sit back and be a player some times too.
What’s Belzy up to these days? It seems like he should join in too….

Well, I’ve done a fair wack of the ‘Player Handbook’. There’s more fluff there than a ‘T and A’ Thursday at a campus bar. There are a few different features, as I think I’ve mostly discussed before. Once I’ve thrown the actual classes and a few examples then I’ll email it to people and you can see what we really have to work with. Then once we’ve got some characters finished all I have to do is.. ah.. write the campaign… but don’t worry! I have an idea of how I want it to run and lots of resources.

EDIT: update. Okay Rob, I’ve emailed the first draft of a partially completed player’s guide with covering email. It was epic. Have a look and let me know what you think, if you felt like puting in the character classes I would be greatly obliged, otherwise let me know what you think of the new concepts. Once we have that finished people can create characters knowing what they’re getting themselves in for. I have uni to start, otherwise I will get onto writing the campaign when I can.
