Soon I hope

So stuff eh?  Still no internet for me, how TPg are having troubles *sigh*

I did get a chance for 30minutes of TF2 yesterday which was glorious, I tried a new policy of spawning as whatever class killed me last which was interesting.  I managed to clock some kills the scout (yes that means I got killed by a scout), especially in one embarassing moment where I accidentally ended up in the enemy base bashing Mr Heavy.  At least I got to spawn as Mr Heavy the round after…

I’m thinking of cancelling my WoW account (yet again)… sadly for the reasons I cited originally – there’s just not enough interest from the rest of the world and the solo game just doesn’t cut it.  TF2 looks like it should fill the gap nicely though, plus I hear Age of Conan comes out soon…

So much has happened recently.  I keep meaning to make a post about it, but then something else happens!  It’s like being on a roller coaster where the guy in front keeps throwing beer cans at you.

Firstly props to lawhell for the awesome review he got for his writing.  No, I didn’t write the review, but I was just as impressed as the guy who did.

We’ve finally got a car, but no sooner did we get it than my beautiful Asian flower went to hospital with dropsy.  They didn’t say it was dropsy, but in the end they couldn’t figure out what it was, and I always liked the name ‘dropsy.’  It makes it seem very 1950s.

Team Fortress 2 has been on the menu almost every night since the new internet arrived, and it’s entirely worth it.  The different classes really provide a lot of variety.  I’ll make a big post about it at a later date though.

We also had the movie night at Bears, which turned out to be a roaring success.   Speaking of Bears, we’ve been planning some real life RPG stuff happening there in the very near future.  I know that 4th edition D&D is out soon, but it looks like we’ll have 3.5 for the time being and D6 cthulu as the alternate.  Once Upon A Time as a filler too, if I’m not mistaken.

Xbox-ing takes another (small) step

The fun of getting internet! Having a day spare and phone credit to burn I thought I’d call up to see the progress of my homeline… sorry… ‘progress’ of my homeline. So much for complaining about three weeks, they’d made a mistake, it would take THREE MONTHS! So after getting stung for a extortion… sorry… ‘connection’ fee of $59 of my hard earned dollars, looks like I might be hooked up in two or three days. We shall see.

In the mean time, it’s getting close to that time where the dread toll of the exam bell booms. Looks like I’ll be less around than usual. I’ll have to sneak a TF2 session in soon. I’ve pretty much given up on DoW, at least for the time being.

So hopefully I can get new internet soon and TF2 will be on the cards (and wow… if I can round up a posse) another cost another day. Looks like my plans of a new suit (or for that matter, dry-cleaning my old suits). Still, its one step closer to the Xbox, even if it is merely a metaphysical one.

Just a quickie (not just an egg-pie)….

sorry for that.  Anyway,  accidentally came across this site, its very dated but it does make some interesting revelations.  It may just be that we won’t be marginalised after all…  Casual Gamers, solidarity comrades!

As for me, the battle for internet continues.  I should have TF2 up and running on my warmachine soon I hope, in case I don’t I may make a pilgrimage to ye olde internete cafe (extra e’s for emphasis).  We may have more fortune in rounding up the troops on that front, but as was said in Red Alert “only time will tell…”

Revelations of Startling Discontinuance

AAaarrggh! So now I find out that I won’t be able to use my phone line for broadband for up to three weeks! My recourse? bugger all. Another great victory for a dystopic telecommunication society. Once again the consumer benefit of a free-market capitalism proves to be a myth. The once optimistic Optus, bristling with hope, seem to have fallen into the pre T1 mires that plagued Telstra. Strangley the inverse is true of Telstra. All my dealings with Telstra was surprisingly pleasant and helpful, the opposite of Optus (with the exception of teh guy who connected the line… at least the second time around).

So it looks like I may not have broadband for another month… or for that matter… ANY internet. Right before exams. Fantastic.

Telstra has to wait for Optus to approve the transfer of my service – the need for the service being due to the fact that optus lines can only service optus broadband. A little fact they neglected to tell me, the revelation of which I was told in no uncertain terms was my fault. Presumably for having the audacity of being the average consumer that isn’t aware of the 600 clauses in the average phone line contract. “Well did you ask them about that?” No, no I didn’t. I didn’t ask them what would happen if fricken martians invaded either. fuck-face.

Caveat Emptor.

Against a faceless corporate deity (that holds within its clawed grasp the welfare of my internet), staffed by a thousand dispassionate souls, I can understand why the disillusioned practice anger management with an uzi down at the post office.

At least the Telstra guy had the good grace to sound embarrassed when telling me the following: there is no way for me to tell when the connection has been successfully transferred without calling them and asking, there’s no courtesy contact, nothing. Solidarity for the down trodden comrade.

360: an xbox odyssey

Well it’s finally back! It arrived not five minutes ago and I’ve unpacked it. Unfortunately I left some of the cables at school, so it’s not doing much good at the moment. I don’t even know if they really fixed it or not! Boo!

I’ll find out soon though. New internet and repaired 360… Who’s up for Halo 3 tonight?

Still Alive

Well we’re still alive and the website is still in use. Unfortunately we all have our real world obligations, such is the life of the Casual Gamer, like the lone desperado on the Western Frontier or the materless Ronin. So I thought I’d put a post up just to make sure the home fires are still burning – for all you prodigal sons out there (of which there is more than one), papa-dawg has made suer there is still a home for you.

WoW has been okay, I’ve come to remember how much its allure relies on others. We’d been hoping to get more people invovled, so I might have to hold out until more are online (though no promises) ;)

That being said, the new internet will be up soon… I hope, lets just settle for saying is it grows to be a more likely prospect as I narrow down its escape options. There is definitely a chance of some TF2 action when that comes about, D and Yhetti are said to stalk those hallowed servers, I believe Rob has the keys to that kingdom as well. With the weight of the consensus Doug may be so persuaded as well.

In the meantime, real life beckons and assignments need to be written (and in some cases, re-written). I’ve had the chance to sneak some writing in as well which I’ve also found to be pretty rewarding, so hopefully we’ll have something more interesting in that department as well. In the meantime, ja matta!

Times past

Just a quick note… a big congratulations to Fel… the most neglected main in the history of WoW finally got off 38 to make it to 39.  Fel was dragged out of retirement to make some money on the AH, now with Sagurachan to take over that role, he’s finally made it up a level for the first time in .. oh… lets say a very long time.  He remains today still my very first horde character.  I remember those days… after numerous gankings at the hands of undead stunlocks (they’re always night elves or undead for some reason) it was time to get me a rogue of my own and Fel was born.

To celebrate in style we went and ganked some allies, of which Dustwallow Marsh provided a rich banquet.  And we ganked, and ganked, and ganked… to those guys, especially that poor Shammy (you know who you are), it had to be done.  And as for that little 35 dps rogue… thanks for the laughs.  I only wish I could’ve gotten that hunter…

On another note, another failed DoW attempt, though at least this time the internet didn’t have to be reinstalled on the world server.

Bowling? Oh my!

Well my gaming this weekend crossed into the realm of real life.  I had my first ever bowling experience.  It was interesting going from wii-bowling to the real thing.  I have to say my score suffered, but not as much as I had first anticipated.

I discovered one thing though.  Bowling is fun.

Aside from that it’s only a few days until the new internet is here and ready for TF2 action.  A lot of people are waiting for this.  With a little luck 007dawg will have his new internet soon and we’ll be able to challenge the dark powers that control Soulstorm.  Maybe it will work this time.  Maybe.  Regardless, we’ve both hit 40, and have our mounts for wow.  I think things are looking good.  I have a feeling though, that by the time some of our other casual buddies get into the game they’ll have to use their mains just to keep up with us.
